Julep's Litter

An instant favorite to all she meets, Julep is the sweetest dog to have ever graced the farm, with a soulful gaze that warms your heart. Her calm and cuddly nature whilst indoors sits in stark contrast to her perpetual motion when let loose. Like her uncle Boy Wonder, Julep is a dog with an innate love of running . . . running for no reason at all, and for every reason whatsoever. Julep would happily spend hours sprinting around the farm, but she is equally pleased to curl up at our feet and snooze the day away. She is also our most trustworthy dog, even with food left on counters, and she has never destroyed a thing in her life. An intuitive and thinking dog who expertly reads each situation, Julep is calm and gentle with kids and puppies, yet springs to life when the situation demands, a trait that has earned her the status of “chief greeter” for visitors to the kennel.

Julep is a soft, biddable dog who always wants to do right, an endearing trait but one dictating we don’t rush her field training. Fortunately, she is a superb marking dog of keen intelligence so easily earned her Junior Hunter and Working Certificate. She is now working on her Double “T” in order to pursue her advanced titles. Julep has loads of bird drive, perhaps the most of all our dogs, and she puts it to good use in the upland field and duck blind. Confident in new situations, and wonderfully adaptable, she transitions seamlessly among venues.

Beautifully balanced from head to toe, Julep shines bright in the breed ring where she debuted as a yearling with a 5-point Best of Breed major over specials, followed by a 5-point Best of Opposite major, both under sporting specialist judges. She finished her championship with ease, and her Grand Championship in 3 weekends. She is an especially stylish dog on the move, with excellent reach and drive, though the slightest bit close moving in the rear. Her bone and substance are complemented by an elegant silhouette displaying correct length of body and depth of rib. Julep posesses an excellent front for a Flat-coat, with great prow, layback of shoulder, and length of neck. Julep carries super coat - easy care, flat-lying, and glossy. Though a bit "doggish," Julep's head is composed of wide planes, complemented by a very dark, albeit slightly round, eye.

With an out-crossed pedigree of excellent longevity, we’re very excited by what Julep promises to contribute to the next generation. Her first litter is expected in 2014.

Many thanks to Hayley Tomlinson of Rainesgift Flatcoats in the U.K. for the opportunity to incorporate her lovely stud dog, Remus, into our breeding program. Julep is one from a fantastic litter of nine pups.
